It is beautiful to watch a nesting pair of herons. The male heron flies out to carefully select a stick to bring back and offer to the female to place as they build their nest together. I have to laugh to myself that sometimes the female will reject the stick that was chosen. I actually feel bad for the male when that happens! But he is not deterred and will promptly find another stick.
I enjoyed watching the Heron hunt the waters for its next meal. It caught and ate 7 fish in about 45 minutes!
I enjoyed watching this male Wigeon find grass to eat in the deep snow; one sunny Winter's Day. I love the sweetness on this one's face.
